Betting odds calculator

This tool works with decimal odds. For a single bet it calculates gross return and net profit, the probability the odds imply, and the total odds of an accumulator made of independent selections. Results are conditional calculations that apply only if the bet wins.

Implied probability includes the bookmaker's margin; it is not the true probability. Multiplying odds is valid only for independent selections, not for correlated same-match selections or special settlement rules.

How the calculations work

  • Gross return = odds × stake. The total the bookmaker pays on a winning bet; it includes the stake.
  • Net profit = gross return − stake.
  • Implied probability = 1 ÷ odds. Odds of 2.00 correspond to 50%.
  • Combined odds = the product of the selections' odds. Valid only for independent selections.
  • Bookmaker margin = the sum of implied probabilities across all selections in one market − 100%.

Why implied probability is not true probability

A bookmaker prices a market so that the implied probabilities of all outcomes add up to more than 100%. The excess is the margin. Odds of 2.00 therefore do not mean "even chances"; the probability the bookmaker actually prices is lower by the margin share. Type a match's 1X2 odds into the accumulator field below to see the margin.

When combined odds mislead

Multiplying odds assumes the selections are independent. Selections from the same match, such as "home win" and "over 2.5", are correlated; one happening changes the other's probability. Bookmakers either reject such slips or price them specially. Postponed matches, voided selections and special settlement rules such as "acca insurance" also invalidate the simple product.

How to compare odds

To compare one odds price with another bookmaker's you need the same event and start time, the same market and selection, equivalent settlement rules, each bookmaker's name, the odds and a last-updated timestamp shown together. This site has no live odds comparison table and will not publish one without a permitted, reliable data source.
